Funding free veterinary care for Thailand’s elephants

Since 2021, Gifted’s Chief Executive, Amy Stevens has served as a trustee with the Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation (STEF).

“It was clear that STEF’s work had the potential to appeal to major givers around the world,” said Amy, “but we needed to do more in terms of getting its impact across.” Amy worked with trustees to develop a more coherent approach to major gifts fundraising which recently led to the Charity’s largest ever philanthropic donation of $100,000.

The Hill Family Foundation

This landmark gift came from the Hill Family Foundation, set up by renowned American banker, Vernon Hill, and his wife Shirley. Chairman of STEF, Dr Andrew Higgins said, “We are deeply grateful for this tremendous gift. Vernon founded the famous Kennel Club Charitable Trust’s International Canine Health Awards, and he and Shirley have continued their commitment to improving animal health and welfare worldwide, through this generous donation to STEF which marks a pivotal moment in our journey to secure a brighter future for Asian elephants.”
