Celebrating a totally paw-some fundraising result at Crufts 2023

The Kennel Club Charitable Trust secures over £100,000 and celebrates the great work being done to improve the lives of dogs and their owners.

Crufts, arguably the biggest event in any dog-lover’s calendar, marked a really special moment for the Kennel Club Charitable Trust (KCCT) this March. Not only was it an occasion to celebrate the fantastic work being done to improve dogs’ health and wellbeing across the UK, but it was also an opportunity to give one final push to the Trust’s Ukraine Appeal.

Launched at Crufts last year, the Appeal has since raised a staggering £280,000 and has had an immeasurable impact on the lives of dogs and their owners caught up in the conflict. The Trust decided to wrap up the Appeal with an exciting online auction which raised a further £12,000 towards the campaign total. KCCT supporters and visitors to Crufts enjoyed bidding for some fantastic dog-related lots, including an award-winning sculpture of a Doberman by US-based artist, Fan Yu.

Old friends and new

Along with fundraising for the Appeal, the Trust gratefully acknowledged a major gift of £88,616 from long-term supporter, Agria Pet Insurance which will help to fund a variety of projects over the next year. New friends included Zoe’s Journey UK, who also donated £4,000 specifically towards research into canine cancer and were invited to talk about the project with TV presenter, Claire Balding.

“This year’s show was a great opportunity to meet so many people and share the work of the Trust on such an important national stage,” says Gifted’s Chief Executive, Amy Stevens. “From conversations with HRH Prince Michael of Kent, to watching members of the public have fun with our Instagram photo frame, the engagement across all four days was incredible.”
