Fundraising perseverance pays off as Solihull School celebrates a winning campaign for new learning spaces and sports facilities.

When fundraising perseverance pays off

At Solihull School, our partnership began in 2018 when we were appointed to provide flexible, periodic fundraising advice to support a £2.5 million Bursary Campaign. The assignment was also a great opportunity to instil some of the principles of capital fundraising; from crafting a compelling case, to asking the right people, at the right time and in the right way. This laid the foundations for a subsequent £2 million capital campaign to enhance the school’s facilities.

In 2023, we conducted a feasibility study which shaped the fundraising strategy and gave the school’s new Executive Headmaster the confidence to take the plan forwards. “We knew there would be hearts and minds to win over,” says Gifted Director, Andrew Day, “but the strength of the school’s leadership, its supportive alumni network and high levels of parental satisfaction, provided the reassurance needed to meet the fundraising challenge.”

The school’s motto – Perseverantia – encourages every pupil to ‘remain persistent and steadfast in study and in life.’ This stoic instruction also inspired the campaign leadership team. “We know they found it hard work,” says Andrew. “But two years on, perseverance has paid off and all the money has been raised. The school community are about to benefit from fantastic new learning spaces and outstanding sports provision – and we couldn’t be more delighted they achieved the result they deserved.”
