Castel Froma Neuro Care
Based in Leamington Spa, Castel Froma Neuro Care is a registered charity that was founded in 1874 as a small, clinical centre for people with long-term illness or disability. Today, its 250-strong staff team cares for more than 200 residents a year living with complex neurological conditions such as brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and Huntington’s Disease. As one of only a handful of specialist centres in the country, the organisation is widely recognised for the very high standard of person-centred care it provides to people across Warwickshire and beyond.
Transforming lives with ten new bedrooms at Helen Ley House
An increasing number of referrals and the need to ease pressure on NHS beds has seen Helen Ley’s capacity expand significantly in recent years. Whilst minor alterations at both Lillington House and Helen Ley House have made it possible to accommodate this growth, existing bedrooms are now consistently full, leaving no emergency bed space available. Thankfully, a new development scheme to create a two-storey extension with ten extra bedrooms at Helen Ley was given the green light in July 2019 and the Charity can now look forward to being even better equipped to serve the extraordinary individuals it meets every day.
Funding the plan for more home-from-home living
The extension at Helen Ley is anticipated to cost as much as £1 million, none of which is eligible for NHS funding. So, taking the plans off the drawing board and onto the site will be entirely dependent on the Charity’s ability to attract step-change philanthropic support over the next three years.
‘This is a remarkable organisation providing life-changing care to people in the region,’ says Gifted director, Andrew Day. ‘We feel privileged to have been invited to conduct the fundraising feasibility study for the project and have no doubt that potential funders will want to support Castel Froma’s vision of helping those living with incredibly challenging illnesses to find peace of mind and feel more like themselves again.’
