New fundraising heights for MY Hospitals Charity

Last weekend, Gifted’s Chief Executive, Amy Stevens, spent a chilly Saturday morning taking on the Cathedral Abseil at Wakefield Cathedral. Amy, who loves a challenge, was keen to support her client, MY Hospitals Charity, and raise money for a new diagnostic suite and state-of-the-art MRI scanner at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.

“Friends and colleagues know me as a bit of an adrenalin fiend,” says Amy. “The Cathedral Abseil was certainly a case of scaling new fundraising heights as well as being a great opportunity to combine the kind of physical challenge I enjoy with raising funds for such a brilliant cause.”

Transforming patient care and specialist research

The new diagnostics suite at Pinderfields will transform patient experience and outcomes whilst also helping to attract the highest calibre of staff. The £1.25m fundraising campaign is part of a £6m redevelopment of the Hospital’s Radiology Department which aims to deliver an outstanding level of care over the next decade. So, whether a patient is under the care of oncology, has suffered a stroke or been involved in a serious road traffic accident, the new MRI scanner will be critical to swift diagnosis, careful triaging and potentially life-saving surgery. It will also play an invaluable role in advancing specialist research not just at home, but around the globe.

“This really is a fundraising campaign that’s very close to my heart and I've been inspired by the passion of the whole radiology team at Pinderfields who want to make this happen,” says Amy. “Living in Leeds I have access to all these diagnostic facilities at my local NHS Trust, but children in Mid Yorkshire have to travel to Leeds or Sheffield for vital scans which this fabulous project will resolve.”
