We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury’s best-selling children’s book, We’re Going on Bear Hunt, is to be the inspiration behind an extraordinary cultural and fundraising event in Leeds next summer. The book, which has sold over 13 million copies worldwide, features the themes of courage, resilience and dealing with fear – ideas that resonate closely with the experience of many children in hospital.
The Leeds Bear Hunt will be a highlight of the 2023 City of Culture celebrations, attracting more than 300,000 visitors a week and promising to raise as much as £500,000 for the Leeds Children’s Hospital Charity (LCHC). Whatever the weather, families across the region will be invited to wiggle into their wellies and splosh their way around the City’s streets and parks, in search of 50 giant bears. “It will be one of Yorkshire’s biggest ever public art trails,” says Gifted Chief Executive, Amy Stevens. “As a local girl, living in Leeds, we’re really excited to be partnering with LCHC and supporting them with such an innovative fundraising challenge.”
Sponsoring a hospital for the future
Gifted has been engaged to assist the Charity in securing the involvement of local businesses in the Bear Hunt spectacle. “The opportunities for sponsors are about being wholly engaged in a creative, vibrant and highly visible ten-week event that puts children right at the heart of things. Through sponsorship support and a farewell auction in Millennium Square, the City’s corporate community will be helping to fund first-class care at Leeds Children’s Hospital for years to come.”
